How our cohorts are built
Published sources, labeled per metric, never a black box
- Bands are compiled from published sources and labeled per metric on every card, not one proprietary dataset behind everything. NRR, GRR, magic number, CAC payback, LTV:CAC, Rule of 40, revenue growth, and burn multiple are cut from the Benchmarkit 2026 State of B2B SaaS Performance Metrics report (n=342). Every other banded metric carries its own source, OpenView, Bessemer, or ICONIQ.
- Contributing your own numbers to a shared cohort is opt-in. Nothing here reads or writes participant data without that explicit consent.
- Portfolio-internal percentiles never render below a minimum sample size, and the raw numbers behind a below-threshold percentile are never sent to the browser.
- A metric with no published band anywhere says so plainly, with a link to where it is still covered, in board reporting. Nothing is ever interpolated to look more complete than it is.

Questions people ask
- Where do the benchmark bands come from?
- Two kinds of sources, each labeled on the card that shows it. NRR, GRR, magic number, CAC payback, LTV:CAC, Rule of 40, revenue growth, and burn multiple are cut from the Benchmarkit 2026 State of B2B SaaS Performance Metrics report (n=342), filtered by ARR band, ACV band, GTM motion, or pricing model where that report publishes a cut. Every other metric on the dashboard carries a band from another published source (OpenView, Bessemer, or ICONIQ), also labeled by name. A metric with no published band anywhere says so plainly instead of guessing, with a link to where it is still covered, in board reporting.
- Is this one proprietary dataset?
- No. There is no single proprietary dataset behind every card. Bands are compiled from published sources and labeled per metric, mostly Benchmarkit 2026 for the core SaaS efficiency metrics and OpenView, Bessemer, or ICONIQ for the rest. The only participant data used anywhere is what a firm's own portfolio companies report, and that is never sold or shared outside the firm.
- Do companies have to share their data to see benchmarks?
- No. Every company sees the published cohort bands regardless. Contributing your own numbers to a shared participant cohort is opt-in and never required to use the dashboard.
- What is different for investment firms?
- Firms get a workspace-wide view: every portfolio company plotted against the cohort band, a comparison grid across the portfolio, CSV export, and a per-company scorecard with a firm-branded PDF export.
